San Holo has released ‘find your way’ from his upcoming album bb u ok? coming May 21 via bitbird. It’s an easy-feeling, optimistic vibe that tells us to keep our heads high in the face of adversity. Bipolar Sunshine supplies the vocal track, and he sounds great too.
The new indie style appears to draw influence from bedroom pop genres rather than dance music that we are used to hearing. The aesthetic exists in the simplicity, which is not something dance music has really entertained before. Simplicity as an aesthetic choice doesn’t often find traction in the dance music realm because it’s easy to blur the lines between what sounds human and what sounds wrong.
There’s no doubt that the accessibility of music technology has exploded over the last decade, but it’s starting to feel like we may have reached our limit of satisfaction we get from flexing it. With the loudness wars edging closer and closer to extinction, let’s let this be the trend to fill the void it leaves behind.
