The universe in which ‘Pressure’ resides is one filled with black lights, mirrors, and dress codes. The level of unf***withability one feels upon listening is equivalent to the force of 1000 Jeff Bezi. Tove Lo provides the vocals, and her voice glides smoothly along with the minimal sound design.
The aesthetic of ‘Pressure’ is not in the festival anthem sound we often hear from Martin, but rather in the simplicity and focus. EDM.com put it nicely as “an exercise in discipline”. The extroverted sound we’ve come to expect takes to the sidelines for a darker, more reserved identity to make an appearance.
This release marks Martin’s first of 2021, and more is expected in the not so distant future. Martin called his latest work his “craziest music ever”, so we are definitely as excited to hear it as Martin must be to finally show it off.
